Buddhism was spawned from Hinduism with parallel reincarnation, karma, and evolving scripture. Some Hindus split into becoming Buddhists in 300BC similar some Catholics becoming Protestants in 1517AD
A. The Tripitaka, The Quran, and Monotheism
The founder of Buddhism (Siddhartha Gautama) was Originally a Hindu who designated himself a deity (Buddha).
Gautama rebelled against the Vedas’ teachings that Brahmins and the Vedas were the ultimate authority, thus creating his own religion.
Gautama as a Hindu used the same ideas from the Vedas to create Buddhism, except for focusing so much on so many gods. Instead, Buddha taught to focus on Enlightenment rather than any gods, curtailing Buddhism into a religion for Meditation rather than Divinity.
A similar division happened between Judaism and Christianity when Jesus was interpreted to be teaching to cancel the Laws of God and instead focus on the Love of God. Thus creating a different religion from the same origin.
B. The Tripitaka, The Quran, and Scripture
The Tripitaka similar to the Vedas was originally verbally transmitted for Hundreds of years (between 600 BCE to 400 BCE), then eventually written down around 100 BCE
Although the Tripitaka’s consistency/integrity faired better than the Vedas, it has similar issues since the Tripitaka originated from the Vedas as detailed in Hinduism’s Scripture.
C. The Tripitaka, The Quran, and Accountability
The Tripitaka similar to the Vedas teaching reincarnation as previously examined in Hinduism’s Theological Intelligence.
D. The Tripitaka, The Quran, and Equality
One difference between Buddhism & Hinduism is the Elimination of the Caste System (Culturally/Religiously Ordained Slavery). Buddha saw the inequality Hinduism caused and declared that; “person’s actions are the measure of who a person is, whether a priest or outcast.”
Buddhism teaches “Upekkha”: An equal attitude towards everyone. This is a lovely teaching and earns a 10 in the Theological Intelligence Score. Similarly, Islam teaches Peace with Everyone, even the non-believers: “To You Your Religion and To Me Mine (Qur’an 109:1-6)
E. The Tripitaka, The Quran, and Charity
Buddhism Inverts charity whereas the Highest level of Buddhists (the Monks) live on Charity. In their pursuit of (Nirvana) they relinquish all worldly goods and were homeless before Monasteries.
In essence, Buddhism is an extreme practice of Transcendental Meditation, risking life and sustainability to reach a mental high similar to a drug addict foregoing all worldly goods to reach a particular state of mind.
F. The Tripitaka, The Quran, and Science
The Tripitaka’s origin being from the Vedas teaching on Science as previously examined in Hinduism’s Theological Intelligence.
G. The Tripitaka, The Quran, and Love
Similar to Catholic priests being Celibate, the Buddhist Monks including the Dalai Lama, (the highest level of Spiritual Leader in Buddhism) practice celibacy in order to focus on self-enlightenment.
H. The Tripitaka, The Quran, and Peace
The Tripitaka preaches extreme peace. Both the Vedas & Quran teach to retaliate as a last resort to being attacked, whereas the Tripitaka teaches peace even if being attacked.
All creatures should be allowed to defend themselves if attacked repeatedly as the Quran teaches. Many creatures are born with self defense mechanisms including humans. Preserving our own lives is appreciating the Blessings of Life that God gave us.
I. Theological Calculation for Buddhism
The total score for Buddhism is 10 because of their viewpoint of seeing all humans as equal. The other categories of Buddhism being similar to Hinduism as previously calculated.
